pupillary distance (PD) is the millimeter measurement between the centers of your pupils. ensures your lens optics align with your eyes horizontally. often listed on a prescription as "PD" — sometimes one number (e.g. 63), sometimes two (e.g. 32/31).
how to get it
call your eye doctor. PD is part of your medical record. by law, providers are required to share it on request if they have it on file.
call any optical shop that has made your prescription lenses. they used a PD to make your lenses and are required to share it on request if they have it on file.
visit any optical shop. most costco, walmart, target, and lenscrafters locations will measure your PD in 1–2 minutes — often at no charge.

for progressives, this is also how you'll get your seg height — the vertical position that places your intermediate and reading zones correctly on the lens. without try-on, we use a frame-specific average that fits most wearers. with try-on, you can get more accurate by having a local optical shop measure it for you, or measuring it yourself using the instructions we send.
